ON THE STREETS
Expect a lively atmosphere with performances happening on the streets in delightfully unexpected places thoughout the Festival. Listen out for choirs and roaming minstrels, and watch out for dance troupes and street performers strutting their stuff. A highlight of these performances is that they are 'off grid' and often the thing you didn't know you needed, captivating your attention and lifting spirits as you move through the Festival site. Below are some of the folks to look out for though, and how you can get involved and then head here to check out the rest of the program.
-
Listen out for the glorious sounds of Kompactus Youth Choir, Ukestral Voices and Shaking The Tree Choir as they serenade folks around the site.
-
You can also hear the Canberra Chordsmen, and Canberra Harmony Chorus bringing barbershop tunes to life—with a chance to join a workshop and learn one of their signature tags! Don’t miss the lively Redfern Shanty Singers or the vibrant Almas Latinas Choir, adding energy to our Latin Fiesta.
-
Dance along to the samba beats of Raio de Sol, groove with dancers from Punjab, India, enjoy the artistry of the Global Mosaic Bellydance Collective, feel the pulse of Mama Buluku’s rhythms, and get up close with members of the Australian Morris Ring.
-
For a quieter moment, join Mad Scrabbler Megs in a relaxed game of Scrabblicious, perfect for both seasoned wordsmiths and beginners, or discover chalk poetry on the pavement left by Postcards From The Sky.
-
Be part of the fun in our Lantern Parade on Sunday night and the Festival Parade on Monday afternoon. Plus, each evening, look out for processions led by Festival artists, guiding you around the grounds to our special dance events!
