The Majestic has become a unique, integral and much-loved part of the National Folk Festival – embracing music, dance, drama, vaudeville spoken word, poetry, circus and general chutzpah – now including such things as ‘Bush vs Slam’ (Poets), ‘Circus vs Morris’ and ‘Folk vs Folk’, under maestro Adam Hadley.
The Majestic originated as the Fringe Festival aspect of the Canberra Multicultural Festival, run by the ACT Government Multicultural Affairs, who handed it to the National Folk Festival with three years funding from 2010-12.
Sadly there is no further funding for what has now been nurtured to become a much-anticipated part of the annual festival program.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to save the Majestic, please send a cheque or money order to:
PO Box 179, Mitchell ACT 2911
Or you can make a direct deposit into the National Folk Festival Public Fund if you wish but please email [email protected] with your address details, to say you have done so to enable us to issue a Tax Receipt for you.

On behalf of the Majestic audience, Adam Hadley and all the artists –
Thankyou in anticipation of your generosity.
Late last year we put the call out for people to donate balls of yarn to be used at the 2012 Festival. We were on the lookout for wool of any colour and thickness to decorate and define a space in central park for a Labyrinth. Festival patrons will then be able to contribute at the event by weaving, twisting and knitting around the trees that define the Labyrinth space.
Well, as the saying goes, ask and you shall receive…click on the link below to see the amazing wall of boxes donated by a wonderful person in our festival community – all full of yarn just ready and waiting to decorate our Labyrinth!
