The National Folk Festival is held in Canberra, the Nation’s capital. Attracting audiences from all parts of Australia, the 4-day long weekend allows attendees time to travel and still be able to enjoy everything the event has to offer. Canberra is well serviced by road from Victoria and NSW and regular flights provide good connections to the city from all states and many regional centres.
Buses connect the Festival site from all parts of the city and it is also well accessed via cycle paths. For patrons who choose to stay off site there is ample accommodation and Exhibition Park is just 12mins from the city centre.
Getting to and from Canberra
Qantas and Virgin both fly in and out of Canberra Airport. Tigerair has a limited daily discounted service between Canberra and Melbourne.
Singapore Airlines operates regularly scheduled international flights between Canberra, Singapore and Wellington (NZ).
From Melbourne via the Barton Hwy – There have been a number of changes and we will post updated directions for exiting the Barton Hwy getting into Well Station Rd.
From Sydney – Enter Canberra via the Federal Hwy (which becomes Northbourne Ave). Take the RIGHT-hand turn into Well Station Rd and follow the signs to your appropriate entry point.

Getting to and from Exhibition Park in Canberra
Turn off Northbourne Ave into Flemington Rd. After you get your wristband from the Ticket Office you will be able to bring your bike inside to the Pedal Power bike-minding service.

From Festival Friday to Festival Monday ACTION will be operating to a Sunday timetable.
ACTION buses go to the City and Gungahlin Bus Stations from outside the Flemington Road entrance gates. This is also the stop for entry to the Festival.
Red Rapid 200 routes are scheduled to pass every 15 minutes between 7am & 7pm on weekdays, with additional routes 56, 57, & 58 operating. This timetable will be in place on Thursday 2 April.
Weekend and Public Holiday Routes 950, 956, and 958 will be in operation for the rest of the weekend as noted above. All timetable information can be viewed on the ACTION website: www.action.act.gov.au
From Civic – Head along Northbourne Ave. Approx 2km past the Barton Hwy turn LEFT into Well Station Rd and follow the signs to your appropriate entry point.
Ample free parking is available at the Old Well Station Rd entrance. Please note this carpark is unsealed and unpatrolled.
